Referral Fair Use
Last updated 2026-11-01
Our Referral Programme Terms say that misuse doesn't earn a discount or a free book. This page explains what that means. We update it as we see new kinds of misuse, and the date above shows when it last changed.
1. Sharing your link
Share your link or code with anyone you like: friends, family, groups, your followers. That's what it's for.
2. What we treat as misuse
- Referring yourself: buying through a second account, another email address or someone else's account so that you get the discount, the free book or both.
- Making accounts, or using throwaway email addresses, to collect discounts or free books.
- Paying with a card or account you aren't allowed to use, or paying and then charging the payment back.
- Using software or scripts to create accounts, referrals or orders.
- Pretending to be TuckJoy, or promising people more than the programme gives.
3. How we check
We look at referrals and the orders behind them, using the account, order and payment records we already keep, as our Privacy Policy describes. Most referrals are never looked at by a person; we look closer when something stands out, such as many referrals ending in refunds.
4. What happens if we find misuse
We may cancel free books it earned that haven't been used, and stop the account from referring. Serious or repeated misuse can close the account under our Terms of Service. If you think we got it wrong, write to [email protected] from the address on your account and we'll look again.
